Our Story

Hi, this is Jaime and welcome to our family blog.  My husband Joe and I have never even considered blogging, but we can add that to the list of things we never thought we'd do.  Until about a year ago we had never thought about adopting either.  God has blessed us with five healthy, vibrant children and we thought our family was complete until one day when I was reading a friend's blog and clicked on a link to Reece's Rainbow. (If you're not familiar with Reece's Rainbow, it is an adoption grant foundation for orphans with Down Syndrome.)   I was immediately drawn in and sat at my computer scrolling through pictures of the most adorable, lovable babies and children that completely melted my heart.  I sobbed as I  scrolled through lonely little faces and so desperately wanted to reach through the screen and hug each one and let them know that Jesus loves them and knows of their circumstances.  I wanted to make them nutritious meals and rock them to sleep in safe, loving arms.  I scrolled some more and then I saw her, our Sweet Rebecca from China!  I could not get her off my mind!  I told Joe about her and we began to pray for her. That Christmas our family participated in Angel Tree to raise money for her adoption grant to take some of the financial burden off the family that God would have for her someday.  It was so neat to see her picture in the ornaments hanging on the Christmas trees of various family members as we visited them over the holidays.

Back to reality... our house is full, our schedule is full, our car is full, our life is pretty full of piano and guitar lessons, homeschooling, sports practices, basketball and soccer games, family events, school events, dentist appointments, sleep overs, grocery shopping, all of the hustle and bustle that it takes to sustain a family of seven.  Never did we think God would open our hearts to bringing another child into our silly, crazy lives, but here I am blogging about our journey as we take this step out in faith that God will help us find a way to BRING REBECCA HOME!

So here I am, nervously and excitedly sharing our hearts and experiences on our journey through adopting Rebecca.  If I'm totally honest, the paperwork is daunting and totally overwhelming to us. So much is required when all we really want to do is hold her and love her and show her how much Jesus loves  her.  We want her to experience the love our other children have had by making her a daughter, sister, granddaughter, and niece surrounded by people who will lift her up in prayer and make her life all that it can be by loving her to pieces!

Just this week we received our approval and got the green light to proceed with the adoption.  This is real! Its really happening!  Pinch me!

Now the work begins… mountains of paperwork await and
we need to raise $36,000 in the next 10 months to make this dream a reality.  We are trusting that God will lead us down a path that will make it happen.  We covet your prayers and support throughout this adventure. Please pray for God’s protection over Rebecca because we know that being a special needs girl in a Chinese orphanage is not the kindest place for our sweet little girl.

Thank you for visiting our blog. Please stop back often and feel free to share our story with others!

Matthew 18:5
“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”

Many Blessings,
Jaime- for the whole Bowen crew!
